Project Description

The City of Tustin Department of Public Works is in the process of replacing a partially buried concrete water storage tank with a new tank consisting of a storage volume of around 1 million gallons (MG). The site is located within a residential neighborhood of large custom homes. Concern was brought up that the new reservoir could potentially impact the views and aesthetic character of the neighborhood. The initial design of the facility had raised alarm regarding its industrial look and its vast scale in contrast to the surrounding community.

........

GPa developed a conceptual solution to address potential residents’ concerns. We were engaged to work on the conceptual design as well as perspective renderings to depict the general character and aesthetic of the proposed reservoir site work with three distinct conceptual views. Beyond the tank the design addressed site walls, and gates, topographic and landscape composition was also depicted for the purpose of adding character to the renderings. These renderings were used for public outreach and gained positive responses.
