Sited at the crux of the LA River, Drake Park, and Cesar Chavez Park come together, this new facility would contribute as an extension of vegetated space, park amenities, and the new 1-2-acre wetlands development. Behind the proposed demonstration garden, the facility would consist of a visitor’s center integrated with an active water treatment process facility and an outdoor deck and exhibition space. This facility is composed of a free-standing mainly one-story high building and a gallery exhibition for the treatment process, garden, and views. There will be seamless flow of indoor and outdoor space that would integrate connection and views with the surrounding landscape.
The facility is anticipated to contain two distinct programs juxtaposed: The water treatment areas (Operations), and the interactive public exhibition areas (Visitors). Controlled points of viewing and contact between the two programs would take place at curated points throughout the facility.
